The KCA Certification Program
1 Control The Kettlebell
What is Level 1
Control The Kettlebell is the foundational certification of the Kettlebells and Conditioning Association.
This seminar introduces participants to the core principles of kettlebell training and builds technical competency in the essential single-arm exercises.
Level 1 focuses on:
Safe and structured movement execution
Understanding the mechanics of the kettlebell swing
Learning the “Single Arm Core Lifts”
Developing breathing control
Building a strong technical foundation
The goal is simple:
Before you increase weight, speed or complexity — you must first control the kettlebell.
What You Will Learn
You will understand and apply the KCA Core Principles:
Safety – Structured start and finish positions, controlled workspace, focused execution.
Posture – Neutral spine, stable stance, efficient alignment.
Centerline – The kettlebell stays connected to your center.
Breathing – Never hold your breath. Learn single and multi-breath rhythms.
Additional technical focus includes:
Proper grip and hand insertion
Arm–body connection
Active return of the kettlebell
Understanding movement phases
Correcting common mistakes
Who is it for
Level 1 is suitable for:
Beginners with no kettlebell experience
Fitness enthusiasts seeking structured training
Martial artists and combat athletes
Personal trainers starting with kettlebells
Anyone looking for a simple but effective training system
No previous kettlebell certification is required.
2 Own The Kettlebell
What Is Level 2
Own The Kettlebell is the second certification within the Kettlebells and Conditioning Association system.
After learning how to control the kettlebell in Level 1, Level 2 is about developing true ownership — control under load, consistency under fatigue and performance with heavier weights.
This certification introduces:
Heavy single kettlebell lifts
Double kettlebell training
Strength and endurance performance standards
Clean & Jerk and Snatch as main lifts
Structured conditioning protocols
Breathing mechanics for strength vs. endurance
What You Will Learn
The introduction of double kettlebell training significantly increases coordination, tension management and conditioning demand.
Level 2 introduces higher expectations in:
Load Management – Handling heavier kettlebells safely and efficiently.
Breathing Strategy – Biomechanical breathing for strength, anatomical breathing for endurance.
Arm–Body Connection – Maintaining structural integrity under load.
Front Rack & Overhead Efficiency – Energy conservation in longer sets.
Speed Control – Especially in heavy squats and presses.
Who Is It For
Level 2 is for:
Certified KCA Level 1 graduates
Serious trainees ready for heavier bells
Coaches preparing for Level 3
Martial artists and athletes developing conditioning
Individuals interested in kettlebell sport concepts
Fitness enthusiasts seeking structured progression
Participants must:
Hold a KCA Level 1 certification
3 Teach the Kettlebell
What Is Level 3
Teach The Kettlebell is the instructional certification of the Kettlebells and Conditioning Association.
It transitions you from practitioner to educator within the KCA system.
This certification prepares you not only to coach kettlebell classes —
but to deliver structured KCA seminars and certify participants under official standards.
What You Will Learn

Teach the full KCA curriculum
Structure and deliver a certification seminar
Demonstrate movements with clarity and authority
Break down complex lifts into progressions
Identify and correct technical mistakes efficiently
